If you as a new Padel player need to choose your new Padel rackets, then there are a few individual extremes that you should know. This is precisely the hardness as well as the main shape of the Padel racket.

Padel rackets are available in 3 primary designs, with the 2 extremities in the round head, as well as the diamond shape. In between, a hybrid shape has been created, which unites the properties of the 2 geometries.

A Padel racket with the diamond-shaped head is popularly called a power Padel racket. This means that the sweetspot is concentrated and located higher in the racket. In practice, this means that you get a racket which collects the energy in a smaller area, which in turn means less energy loss, which can be transferred into the ball instead of the core.
On the other hand, it also has the effect, that you have to hit the racket more accurately than compared to a racket with the round head shape.
The diamond shape is ideal for the experienced Padel player, and these type of Padel rackets are usually constructed in Carbon with harder core, to be able to withstand the extra power.

Finally, a hybrid version of the 2 geometries, the hybrid racket, has been developed.
A hybrid Padel racket is characterized by the teardrop-shaped head, which lowers the center of gravity a bit, and increases the sweetspot in the longitudinal direction, without making it circular. This means that more freedom is given compared to the Padel racket with the diamond head, and 'mis hits' will not feel nearly as fatal. The energy loss is minimized compared to the racket with the round head, so in this solution you get the best from the 2 models.
The hybrid racket is recommended for most players who want a good and usable racket, without being at the top level, but who want to aspire to a better level, or also for the good player who is looking for a good all-round racket .

The hardness of the Padel racket adds an element of forgiveness, and is thus a determining factor when the beginner has to choose the Padel racket.
The more elastic the Padel racket is, the more bounce you can achieve at lower speeds. This means that the Padel racket will help you return the ball. A stiffer racket absorbs minimal energy when hitting, and therefore the hard-hitting and precise player will be able to benefit from a stiffer Padel racket.
The 3 forementioned geometries are usually also co-determining the hardness of the racket, as well as material.

A padel racket with a round head will usually have soft to medium hard core.
A Padel racket with diamond shaped head will usually be designed with a harder core, as not to absorb the energy of the hard hit.
The hybrid racket will usually be constructed in a medium configuration as far as the hardness of the core is concerned.

The choice of material must reflect the properties of the racket. A diamond-shaped racket, which must be used for power, and which must be able to transfer and withstand a significant load, will normally be made of Carbon, both in terms of frame and impact surface. All top Padel rackets are constructed in this way, which provides extremely good playing properties, as carbon is stronger and stiffer than e.g. fiberglass, thus absorbing less energy in the construction.

A Padel racket at the cheaper end will usually be constructed of fiberglass, which can be for both frame and surface. This will usually be for Padel rackets with round heads, or the hybrid models. Fiberglass has good properties, but also absorbs energy as it deflects more than carbon. The weight of the racket must be kept at around 360-375 grams, which means that there is a limit to how much fiberglass you can add to make the racket rigid, and therefore this choice of material fits best with the softer forgiving types.

A good choice in the middle class are Padel rackets made with the frame in Carbon and the surface in fiberglass. This provides a frame with minimal deflection, and combined with a fiberglass surface for a soft to medium core, it gives a good result.
This type is ideal for the mid-level player.
